First Lady of Lipscomb
Rhonda Lowry
First Lady of Lipscomb University seems to be a natural role for Rhonda Lowry. Rhonda and President Randy Lowry met when, as a freshman, Rhonda joined the first class to attend the Malibu campus of Pepperdine University. After graduation in 1975, they were married. They have three children—John, Janet and Melinda. For years, Rhonda’s heart has been drawn to personal ministry. In 1991, Rhonda made a crucial decision: she decided to attend Fuller Theological Seminary in pursuit of a Master of Divinity degree. She knew the journey would be long and difficult because she chose not to give up her many helping roles in the family, church and community. She completed her M.Div. degree and has become a widely sought-after speaker and has taught at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pepperdine University, and presently is an assistant professor at Lipscomb University.
Rhonda Lowry often focuses her speaking engagements on spiritual formation. She is a frequent speaker at Laity Lodge in Texas, a program of the H. E. Butt Foundation dedicated to enabling Christians to know Jesus deeply and to serve him in the everyday places of their lives. Rhonda is often invited to speak for the ZOE Group, a nonprofit ministry of Christian renewal based in Nashville. She has spoken at the North American Christian Convention and frequently speaks at the Pepperdine Bible Lectures. Rhonda was awarded the 2004 WINESKINS award of Christian service at the Pepperdine lectures. She serves as a board member for Rochester College, for Missions Resource network, and the ALS Association, Tennessee Chapter.
Over thirty years of affiliation with four different universities, plus years as a mother, informal personal minister and fundraiser, have uniquely prepared Rhonda Lowry for her role as First Lady of Lipscomb University. She brings a deeply compassionate heart, as well as her many other talents to the University. She is an example and mentor to both young and older Christians at Lipscomb and throughout the larger community.
